Cheryl Weatherford

Thank you for taking a moment to connect with Chereal Designs, here’s a bit about who I am as a jewelry designer and instructor.

Each class and collaboration I bring custom craftsmanship with a spiritual touch. Before a custom piece is crafted, we will talk about the hand-picked materials and time-honored techniques I’ll be applying to create something special with a lot of meaning in the finished work.

Begin creating at home by scheduling a private or Zoom class with a project you’re into or one of my DIY jewelry kits. Every purchased kit comes with two 15-minute sessions of virtual follow up at flexible hours.

My jewelry or sculptural work include techniques such as: wirework, stringing, round/flat peyote stitch, cubed right angle weave, right angle weave, round/flat herringbone, wire weaving, stone wrapping, pearl knotting, macramé, lamp work, bead embroidery and chain maille.

I look forward to creating a custom piece of adornment for you or a special someone. Or, we can find a class where you can begin your own jewelry creating journey with online courses and my DIY jewelry making kits.

Be well,

Cheryl Weatherford

“The wearer, the student, the client, the DIY designer must feel truly represented through the symbolism, feel and look of the jewelry.”
— Cheryl Weatherford

spiritually informed

Spirituality that melds her Wiccan faith with influences of her Methodist upbringing shape every piece Cheryl creates. Her work includes research into the metaphysical meaning and symbolism of gemstones, and a caring analysis of each client’s personal aspirations and self-described qualities. “I believe in the value of these stones even if for some, it’s more of a placebo effect. You can never go wrong seeking to better understand and express yourself.”

self-taught yet expertly mentored

Cheryl practices her craft through countless hours at her home studio, researching styles and techniques. She is also mentored by some of eastern Iowa’s best beading and entrepreneurial minds, including Karen Kubby of Beadology Iowa in Iowa City. “I lovingly invest hours of labor, and of thought, into each piece and am always seeking ways to expand and perfect my techniques and my artistic vision.”
